Yep, we've been super busy with lots of stuff behind the scenes. Unfortunately, we don't have any Reaktor freebies planned for the foreseeable future.

You could certainly get some stuff like that 'Jonny Greenwood' patch happening in Rolodecks or Buffeater (even Buffeater Lite).

Either way, thanks for thinking of us and sharing your idea. Perhaps we should just try to get in touch with Jonny <img src="http://twistedtools.com/forums/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_wink.gif" title=";)" class="bb_smilies" />

Its been a long time since you guys released a freebie that wasn't samples. I was hoping to see something around the holidays or the anniversary but I am sure you guys are busy.

If you search google or youtube for "Jonny Greenwood max msp" you will get lots of results with tons of people being interested in it. I bet you could turn this simple stutter effect out via the buffeater framework with relative ease and name it something like "greenwood" you might attract the attention of some Radiohead fans as new customers.

It appears that the TRANSFORM LAYERED KIT.exs has been corrupted and produces white noise when using it in the EXS24. This problem only affects this specific EXS kit.

To fix:

1 - Simply hit Edit to open the EXS 24 editor.
2 - Select all the zone folders from the left side and hit command-c.
3 - Go to Instrument>New from within the EXS editor.
4 - Hit command-v and wait a few second.
5 - Go to Instrument>Save and name it. Feel free to replace the old file.

We will update the package when we accumulate a larger list of errors that need fixing.

Thanks!

Hello guys,

indeed the problem is here! Apparently those bugs appeared somewhere during the latest updates. I was working on CPU optimization and touched some core bits. Very weird but standalone/realtime it all works fine but doesnt during the Rendering.

Apparently we just forgot to test rendering with those updates and overlooked the problem. Thanks for bringing this up.

Theres also weird case with Ableton. Rendering works but in Buffeater there are some silent gaps in audio after effects turn off.

Anyway, I'm fixing those problems and hopefully we'll try to release fixes ASAP.

Best

Aha, well...I suppose it would be possible to have per grid settings but with such a large matrix and an instrument that is already complex, it might be overcomplicated. Colorflex was definitely meant to be a fun and chaotic approach more so than an accurate detailed one, though I do get your logic.

Perhaps in the future, something similar could be developed (Colorflex 2.0?) that allows for a custom grids. Definitely something we'll consider. Thanks for your input.

Ok, well I can now confirm some of the issues you're experiencing with non-realtime bounces. Sorry we didn't catch this earlier.

My guess at the moment is that this has more to do with the nature of Scapes and Buffeater's engine needing realtime in order to function properly. For example, if you test automating parameters that aren't related to the buffer (ie. the instruments internal Vol, Pan cells etc.) things work as expected and bounce with the automation.

That said, we will look into this further and see if there is a way to fix things, but in the meantime you can use a realtime bounce (no bounce in place) and it should work fine. Yes, it takes more time (10-15 seconds once you have the process down), but it is a solution.

Work-around (old-skool bounce in place with key commands for laptop) :
1. Select region and choose Set Locators by Regions (=)
2. Solo Region (s)
3. File bounce (command-b) and check 'add to bin', then bounce.
4. Create a new audio track (opt-command-n)
5. Add file from bin to track (command semi-colon)
4. Choose 'Audio>Move to Original Record Position' to spot the region to its original location.
(option-shift command r).

A number box that lets you set the value for the last touched grid square would be ideal.

0-100 is a bit silly for IC SEND because what if your instrument is an oscillator frequency and you want it to go from 114 on one step to 2032 (exactly) on the next for interesting FM sequencing?

When I got colorflex I may have been blinded by its novelty but now I am struggling to find any use for it as my interest in midi matured a little, because its level of precision is very limited and so it feels more like a toy than a tool but with these changes it could be one of the best sequencing tools to exist.

Hi Kryptolith, here is the response for Jean-Edouard. In a nutshell, those particular sounds are heavily processed intentionally, but there are other sounds in the 'Organic' folder that aren't.

That's right. Those sounds were heavily processed and I found use for such sounds while doing this GDC trailer last year, for when the helmets and some plastic parts are being smashed or the guy is thrown in the glass. It was intended to be like that, powerful and extremely violent and that's why I went overboard with them.

The waveform looks very compressed at the point it looks almost clipping, that's because the low levels were brought up at extreme values but everything shouldn't go over -0.2dB FS. The Organic category contains some non processed sounds with short transients that can be used with your own processing chain to achieve the effect you're looking for.

Also, we knew about the difference of level between the most quiet sounds and the over processed ones in Transform and we tried our best using the EBU R128 standard to auto gain all the assets in order to have a same overall loudness. Unfortunately, the technology wasn't ready at that time and the developers were still working on their applications while we were working on Transform. I helped to develop R128GAIN as well as Grimm Audio's LevelOne but both applications presented some major bugs so we decided to abandon the idea of batch processing all the assets. I really apologize for not setting my levels properly early enough during the production of Transform, I made this mistake once and it won't happen again. Regarding EBU R128, many professionals of the industry are still debating about the consequences of doing such treatments that would affect the dynamics.

ABOVE CONTINUED.............

Just found that bouncing Audio within Rolodecks using exactly the same technique WORKS (This records the midi edits/I have FX included in my audio Bounce).

Bouncing with Buffeater in the same manner - Still only the original Audio!
(Does not include the Midi edits, so I only get the original audio & no FX!)

I am using an instrument track, I have movement due to either Key presses OR writing them in through Logic's "Track Automation & Draw" (So I understand bot methods of writing Automation)

I understand that I could just mute on and off as I wish but that's way more Caveman than I'm comfortable with................. WHY WON'T IT RECORD MY AUTOMATION ASWELL???

I want an exact mode of sequencing, it would be great if If instead of only 1-10 strengths and min/max I could set each grid square anywhere from 1-127 for MIDI NOTE and MIDI CC and anywhere from 1-X(user defined) for IC SEND, which can be sending values into the thousands if I want. Each grid square should have an exact user defined value for professional quality sequencing work.

You could bang this out, put together a new youtube video and attract new customers who are more inclined towards precise exact control.

Hi there, in a sampler or in general?

Lots of the sounds were heavily processed and a lot of them were intentionally distorted, but can you please elaborate?

Best,

QUESTION:
Message: I'm using Twisted KP. Wanted to know if there is a way to have different banks control different instruments or effects. I know it's possible with OSCulator. If not, do you plan on adding this feature?

ANSWER
I don't know how Osculator works, but I assume it is simply with MIDI channels? If so, you could route the Bank Val. ouput in Twisted KP to the CHANNEL setting in Twisted KP. This way when you change banks on Twisted KP, you change the Twisted KP MIDI Out Channel. Then, in your host software, set up each instrument to receive on a specific MIDI channel.

I imagine that should work. Be aware that MIDI CH out won't work to control other Reaktor Instruments (Reaktor bug), but it will work to control instruments outside of Reaktor.

I recently bought "Transform" and i'm loving it. I'e been using it in Maschne andone of my favorite things is the Stomp kit which reminds me a lot of the Amon Tobin kit in the factory sound bank (by far my favorite).

I would love a sample pack that is just filled with kits like these.

Similarly i would love to see some tutorials on the sound design of this kit too.

Hi Benny, of course you can run all our devices as a plugin inside of Ableton and all our sample packs as kits. I'm not sure why Rolodecks isn't working for you. Can you elaborate on the exact problem?

To answer your other questions:

OSC is a complex topic and MIDI out on the iPad for a lot of controller apps is relatively new or simply doesn't exist. Most of our templates were originally developed when OSC was really the only viable option.

You can't use control templates that send OSC to control a plugin inside Ableton without first translating the OSC into MIDI, using a converter app (like Twisted KP).

However, Twisted KP is just for converting Konkreet Labs Performer templates to MIDI. It does NOT generate any sound on its own. It simply takes incoming OSC messages from Performer and converts them in an intuitive, quick and efficient way.

You can modify Twisted KP to work with any OSC source (Lemur iPad, etc), though it really isn't meant for that and takes a fair amount of work.

You can also use Osculator to convert messages (many people go this route). http://www.osculator.net/

Reaktor's User Library also has some tools for OSC conversion you might find useful.

TouchOSC: Most of our templates were made with the legacy version of TouchOSC (except for MP16c, comes with TRANSFORM and supports MIDI). You can modify the TouchOSC files on your own to support MIDI out with a bit of work to get a decent MIDI version, though some controls won't transfer easily to MIDI and some things will require modifications to our Reaktor ensembles.

In the future, we hope to convert TouchOSC templates to MIDI for all our software, though this may not happen for some time and may likely be part of a paid update. No promises there though.

Lemur iPad:

While Lemur iPad does support MIDI out, our Lemur template for Scapes is a port from an old version designed on the original hardware Lemur. It doesn't support MIDI out and getting it to do so would require some serious modifications to both the template and our ensemble. Both are not minor and would take some time and expertise.

Konkreet Labs Performer
Currently only supports OSC. Best solution is to use our Twisted KP application to convert the messages as I mentioned earlier.

Pitch root/transpose settings depend on builder's implementation of pitch logic.

For scapes, Transpose should be always zero, and Root = sample number.
